Cheoy Lee's 58m Anchor Handling Tug/Supply Vessel is a model in high demand, however two units currently under construction are available. Typical duties are to supply, support and act in the capacity of a safety vessel, for offshore drilling and work over rigs on a twenty-four hour per day basis. Specific duties might include the transportation of fresh water, diesel oil, bulk cement, liquid mud, stores, materials and equipment, tow/move drilling and work over safety rigs, anchor handling duties, move men and materials between platforms and shore, and evacuate casualties.
The design, now well proven, originated from Singapore based naval architects Conan Wu & Associates and incorporates an all steel hull and superstructure. The vessel is constructed to ABS class with the notation ABS+A1(E) + AMS FIFI 1 Towing and Anchor Handling Services.

Two vessels are available for delivery in the not too distant future with accommodation for between 22 – 24.
The elevated bridge deck includes six one berth cabins for the captain, chief engineer, and higher ranking crew members. Each is comfortably appointed with an ensuite head, berth, sofa, desk and storage facilities. The remainder of the crew is housed on the forecastle deck, below, in two and four man cabins. A crew mess, dining hall, galley (with walk-in freezer, cold storage and provisions rooms), changing rooms and sick bay are all located on the main deck, immediately ahead on the large working deck.
The working deck aft is over 30m (100') long, with an area of approximately 350 square metres (3,800 sq.ft). Sheathed in wood for protection during anchor handling and towing operations, the underlying steel deck plating is 20mm (3/4") thick. Deck winches are from MacGreggor Plimsoll, and include a 200tonne towing/anchor handling winch, 10tonne anchor windlass, two 10tonne tugger winches, and two 5tonne capstans. Towing equipment includes 200 tonne towing pins and a 250 tonne Shark Jaw.
One vessel is powered by twin Niigata 6L28HX engines each delivering 2,500hp, driving Niigata azimuthing thrusters. These thrusters, offering full thrust in any required direction, combine with the 12tonne Schottel bow thruster to deliver excellent maneuverability and station keeping abilities. Maximum speed is 13knots in the lightship condition, with a cruising speed of 12knots fully loaded. Range at cruising speed is in excess of 4,500nm on the vessels 400tonne fuel load. The three Caterpillar 320kW generators support the ships loads, while a 72kW back-up set also serves as a harbour generator.
The other is powered by two air start Caterpillar 3516B diesel engines each producing 2,575 hp, driving Nakashima controllable pitch propellers in nozzles via Twin Disc MGR 1727VC 7:1 reduction gearboxes. Maneuvering is enhanced by a 12tonne Schottel bow thruster directly driven by a 1,130hp Caterpillar diesel. Electrical power is developed by three Caterpillar 320kW diesel generating sets, each independently capable of supporting the ships loads. In addition, there is a 72kW back-up set that also serves as a harbour generator.
